Developer eyes 6-story, 48-unit housing building for Packard’s Corner in Allston

A neighborhood-based developer is proposing to build a six-story, 48-unit residential building with 55 parking spaces in the Packard’s Corner section of Allston.

The Hamilton Company would combine several parcels it owns along Malvern Street, between Ashford and Gardner streets, to build the 50,000-square-foot building and parking on about three-quarters of an acre of property that currently houses a rented-out, single-family home and a surface parking lot, according to the developer’s president and COO, Carl Valeri.

Valeri said his company hopes to start work as soon as the fall.

He declined to comment further saying his company plans to soon go before several neighborhood groups to present details of the plans and looks forward to “working in concert with the BRA and community civic leaders.”

A notice from the city’s zoning board of appeals said the project is scheduled to go before the board to seek approval for several variances needed for the project at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
